Position Overview
We are seeking a performance-driven, hands-on Engineer to join our dynamic team with our client reporting directly to the President. This role offers the opportunity to execute both strategic and tactical objectives in a diverse manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support: Provide customers and prospective clients with expert technical application support for complex specialty motors, including detailed technical analysis.
- Motor Specifications: Develop detailed motor specifications based on customer requirements and manage external motor designers to ensure custom electric motors meet these specifications.
- Customer Support: Deliver key support for existing products, maintaining frequent communication with customers regarding new developments.
- Design Optimization: Evaluate and improve existing motor designs to enhance manufacturability and performance.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Provide technical support to manufacturing and other functional areas, collaborating with technicians on testing requirements.
- Leadership & Mentorship: Coach, mentor, and support colleagues in skill development to ensure high-quality solutions. Lead problem-solving activities related to future technologies.
- Strategic Projects: Participate in strategic development projects, optimizing industrial motors, and conducting cost-benefit analyses.
- Product Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management and Operations on product specifications, application assistance, and regulatory/certification requirements.
- Other Duties: Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
Knowledge & Training:
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of power converters and electric systems.
- Understanding of medium voltage AC motor designs and familiarity with electrical and safety standards.
- Thorough understanding of electric motor manufacturing techniques and standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
- Six Sigma or Lean project leadership experience is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of electric motor design, manufacturing, and applications experience.
- Expertise in motor component selection, specification, and testing of electrical motors.
- Proven experience in a customer-facing engineering environment, including assessing non-conformities in both factory and field settings.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to lead and influence teams.
Requirements:
- Expert communication skills with a strong ability to delegate responsibilities and collaborate across the company.
- Strong decision-making capabilities and the ability to motivate and lead teams.
- Proven organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities with minimal supervision.
