360 Talent Avenue has partnered with a leading healthcare provider that supports military treatment facilities nationwide to hire a Medical Coder III – Inpatient (Remote). This is a direct hire opportunity on a long-term government healthcare contract that runs through November 2027.
Compensation: $37/hour + Health & Wellness Stipend
Schedule: Full-time | Remote | Equipment Provided
What You’ll Do:
As a Medical Coder III, you will play a critical role in maintaining medical data integrity across inpatient and professional service records. You’ll apply your coding expertise to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper reimbursement in a fast-paced, federally regulated environment. This is a highly independent role that requires deep experience and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient stays and professional services
- Ensure proper DRG assignment and reimbursement compliance using 3M Encompass
- Review documentation for clarity, completeness, and accuracy
- Collaborate with documentation teams to resolve coding discrepancies
- Participate in audits and continuous improvement processes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal coding guidelines and payer rules
- Navigate EMR platforms including MHS GENESIS, AHLTA, CHCS, and Essentris
- Stay current with CEU requirements and contribute to training initiatives
What You’ll Need:
- U.S. Citizenship and current U.S. residency
- 5+ years of inpatient coding experience across at least 2 specialties (e.g., Ortho, Cardiac, General Surgery)
- One or more of the following certifications (AHIMA or AAPC only): RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CIC, or COC
- Strong understanding of DRG assignment, RVUs, RBRVS, NCCI edits, and federal compliance requirements
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems—experience with Epic or Cerner is a plus
- Detail-oriented mindset and strong problem-solving skills in a remote, self-led environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience coding within Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs)
- Experience coding outpatient day surgeries
- Hands-on experience with 3M Encompass 360 and MHS GENESIS or similar federal platforms
Provisional Certification Pathway (Optional):
Have the experience but not yet certified? You may qualify under our provisional hiring pathway:
- Start at $34/hour
- Receive company-funded certification support
- Earn a pay increase upon successful certification within 12 months
