360 Talent Avenue is seeking experienced Medical Coders III for direct-hire, remote opportunities with a healthcare provider supporting military treatment facilities nationwide. In this role, you'll contribute to accurate, compliant medical coding for a government healthcare contract that runs through November 2027.

Position Summary

As a Medical Coder III, you’ll be responsible for the accurate assignment of ICD-10 codes for inpatient facility stays and professional services. You’ll also apply CPT, HCPCS, and modifiers to ensure correct DRG and reimbursement compliance. This role is critical to supporting medical data integrity in a government healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes for inpatient and professional services (IBWA/rounds).
   
• Ensure correct assignment of DRGs, RVUs, and RWPs using 3M Encompass and federal systems.
   
• Submit queries and review documentation for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
   
• Participate in audits and training for documentation improvement.
   
• Utilize MHS GENESIS, AHLTA, CHCS, and Essentris.
   
• Stay current with coding regulations and maintain required CEUs.
   
• Collaborate with coding supervisors and program managers to resolve issues.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship and current U.S. residency
   
• 5+ years of inpatient coding and/or auditing across 2+ specialties
  (e.g., Ortho, Cardiac, General Surgery)
   
• One or more national certifications:
   
  • RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CIC, or COC (AHIMA or AAPC only)
     
• Knowledge of DRGs, PPS, RBRVS, NCCI, LCD/NCD, and other federal standards
   
• Familiarity with EHR/EMR platforms; Epic or Cerner experience is a plus

 Preferred

• Experience coding in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF)
   
• Experience with outpatient day surgeries
   
• Prior use of 3M Encompass 360, MHS GENESIS, or similar federal platform

Provisional Certification Pathway (Optional)

Have the experience but not the certification yet? You may qualify under a provisional pathway:

• Start at $34/hr
   
• 12 months to earn your qualifying certification (company-funded)
   
• Pay increase upon certification

Work Environment & Schedule

• 100% remote (must reside in the U.S.)
   
• Flexible 8-hour schedule within a 24-hour window
